The Inline-Six-powered BMW K1600GT – a much-anticipated ride that will debut this Spring at BMW dealers nationwide.
BMW’s new K1600 touring series remains one of the most anticipated new rides of the 2011 model lineup. Powered by an all-new 160-horsepower Inline Six, the K1600GT and K1600GTL bikes promise to deliver gobs of torque and typical BMW touring luxury. They also figure to be a limited commodity, with BMW Motorrad USA announcing it’s now taking presale orders for both units.
Production has not yet begun for the new K1600, but BMW promotional material states “demand is anticipated to be very high and with launch coming as the riding season begins, this means initial supplies will be tight.” Interested riders must visit the BMW Motorrad USA website and fill out an information form, which gains access to info on production updates, tech details, press releases and other exclusive material. A PDF Presale Form can then be downloaded and taken to a local BMW dealer to reserve a unit.
The presale program deadline is March 31, with production units expected arrival sometime in the spring. Official pricing for the K1600GT and K1600GTL is still pending. Riders wanting only technical/media updates on the new rides from BMW can sign up for the promotion’s K1600 email list.
Stay tuned for more updates on the BMW K1600GT line in the weeks to come, and make sure to check back for Motorcycle USA’s 2011 BMW K1600GT First Ride evaluation in early March.
