The Thundersprint has seen many star riders take to the famous Northwich town centre track but there has never been anyone with a bigger personality than Danny John Jules.
As well as being an all round entertainer and, as “Cat” in “Red Dwarf”, one of the country’s favourite comedy characters, Danny is a hard core bike enthusiast and has just returned from an epic 7000 mile trip round the Mediterranean in the company of Graham Hoskins. Their journey of a lifetime is told in “Motorbike Diaries – Mad In The Med” which will be shown in eight episodes beginning on the 21st.February on Sky’s “Extreme Sports” channel.
Danny will be using his, unforgettable, all pink Yamaha R1 for the twists and turns of the Thundersprint’s “Grand Prix in a Car Park”.
Danny said: “The R1 is truly a do-everything bike. It has enormous power, plus race track quality handling, and is so easy to ride that it will be perfect for having a play at the Thundersprint.
“I just love big events and I can’t wait to get into my pink leathers and entertain the vast Thundersprint crowds.
“I’m also looking forward to being able to meet fans without any “Keep Out” signs or VIP areas coming between us. I’ll be right next to the paddock with my R1 and who knows, “Cat” might join us too!”
Thundersprint organiser, Frank Melling, said: “Having Danny at the Thundersprint will mean that the sun will be certain to shine. There’s no-one in the world who is more fun and Danny’s sense of humour, and love of bikes, is absolutely infectious.
“He will make a great addition to what is already a fantastic race entry.”
