Tyler O’Hara won Saturday’s 10-lap AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 race by the slimmest of margins after a strategic draft maneuver on the final lap. The pass allowed him to slip past Steve Rapp and beat him to the checked flag by just 0.047 second. Third place went to Daytona Sportbike series regular, Jason DiSalvo.

At the start of the race it was O’Hara and Chris Fillmore battling it out at the front. The two were riding with confidence and routinely took turns at the front. Behind them was Jeremy McWilliams, Steve Rapp, Jason DiSalvo and Michael Barnes.

With two laps to go the pack tightened up riding four wide down the straightaway. Given the close proximity of the riders up front it was inevitably that someone was going to hit the ground and that someone was Fillmore when he got boxed out as the pack entered a corner. Moments later McWilliams crashed gifting the lead to Rapp. And it looked like Rapp was going to win the race until O’Hara came blazing by at the last second.
