Ms. Golden is part of the new generation of female motocross racers who brings her youthful exuberance and a fan-friendly personality to the WMX series. Vicki has been riding since she was little kid, racing amateur MX and won the women’s class at Loretta Lynn’s in ’08 before turning pro in ’09. You can see her competing at the X-Games, WMX and even Arenacross.

I finished out the Women¹s Motocross Nationals this weekend at Pala Raceway with 4-4 moto scores and rounded out the Nationals fifth overall in points.

Season Recap

My season started off rough due to an ankle injury I sustained racing during the second moto at Hangtown (Round 1). Fortunately, as my ankle got better so did my results, which were just a bit inconsistent. I would have a really good moto and then a really bad one. Right before Thunder Valley (Round 3) I started training with Sean Hamblin and that made a big difference in my riding. We also made some improvements to the bike during the break and my ankle was nearly healed up. I earned third place in Moto 1 at Lakewood, but unfortunately in Moto 2, while I was in position for a podium, I made a mistake on the last lap – it put me way back for the overall result.

At Red Bud (Round 4) and Millville (Round 5) I rode consistently for fourth in both rounds, and I gained some valuable championship points. After Millville I switched to Supercross to train for X Games. Kawasaki was nice enough to prep their test track and give Livia Lancelot, Sara Price, and myself the opportunity to practice on it as much as we liked. Dunlop came out to the practice track and helped with tire selection. X Games obviously went perfect. I won my heat

race and the Gold in the main event. I was really happy to finally be able to show what I can do and represent my sponsors the way that they deserve.

After a few weeks break it was back to the outdoor series. We returned to a mud race at Southwick and it definitely didn¹t go how I wanted. I ended up crashing and just struggling in both motos. It was especially disappointing for me in Moto 2 because I was running in second. The following weekend at Steel City (Round 7) I continued to struggle. I felt like I had lost my rhythm. My results were better than the previous round. I went 6-5, but it just wasn’t what I was capable of.

Finally, coming back home to race the last National at my local track was great. I felt a lot more comfortable and went 4 – 4 just behind Fiolek, Gieger, and Patterson. I ended up fifth for the year. It¹s not what I wanted, but considering all the struggles I am happy to be able to salvage WMX National #5.

It is amazing how many people it takes to go race the Nationals. I want to thank everyone for their support, for the occasional express product need and for all the positive words of encouragement.
