Yamaha announced today factory rider Jorge Lorenzo will miss the last race of the 2011 MotoGP season at Valencia as he continues to recover from surgery on his left hand. The 2010 World Champion went under the knife to repair his ring finger after injuring it in a crash during warm-ups at Phillip Island. Even without competing this weekend, Lorenzo is assured second place in the 2011 World Championships with 260 points.

He will be replaced again by Katsuyuki Nakasuga, who subbed for Lorenzo in the last race at Sepang. Nakasuga competes in the All Japan Superbike league and is a Yamaha test rider.
