Ryan Morais (#65) suffered several broken vertebrae in addition to a broken jaw after landing on Trey Canard.
In a recent press release the status of Star Valli Yamaha’s Ryan Morais was revealed. After being transported to a local hospital the 28-year-old was treated for a broken jaw, multiple fractured vertebrae and broken ribs. Morais crashed during the opening lap of the Los Angeles supercross round after slamming into Honda’s Trey Canard on the first triple, leaving both riders temporarily unconscious.
At this time there is no sign of spinal cord damage as doctors continue to evaluate his condition. Despite the extent of their injuries, Morais and Canard are both expected to make full recoveries. Below is an official release from Rockstar Energy Racing:
Star Valli Yamaha rider Ryan Morais was involved in a crash during the first lap of the main event at the Los Angeles round of the AMA/FIM Supercross Championship series Saturday night. The Rockstar Energy rider was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for a broken jaw, several fractured vertebrae and some broken ribs. There is no sign of spinal cord damage at this time and Morais is continuing to be evaluated. A full recovery is anticipated.
