Bam Bam got another Lites victory taking the win at Toronto.
No one could match Justin Barcia for the Toronto Lites win.

Justin Barcia continued his domination of the AMA Supercross East Lites series, taking the win at Toronto. The Honda CRF250R rider was joined on the Canadian podium by KTM’s Ken Roczen and Suzuki’s Blake Wharton.

The mustachioed Barcia proved a man amongst the Lites boys by grabbing the holeshot, but Roczen rocketed around for the early lead in the opening laps. Despite being rocked with the flu, the KTM rider battled up front, but on Lap 3 Bam Bam made contact with the European and took the lead, which would never be relinquished.

There was still some drama up in the podium fight, as on Lap 4 Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Darryn Durham went down in the trailing group, which allowed Wharton up with the rostrum finishers.

But although running alone up front, even the lead was in doubt as the Toronto whoops were giving everyone trouble. Barcia stumbled in the rocky ruts, but not enough to open the door for Roczen.

Barcia 1 and Roczen 70 were the strong starters in the Lites main with the Honda rider getting by the KTM early with a maneuver typical of Bam Bams style - aggressive but not dirty.

Barcia held firm in Toronto, uncontested at the finish. As the final laps wound down, the Honda ace motored to an easy victory. Roczen did much the same in second, while the long-haired Wharton claimed a lone third.

Roczen may have no wins this season, but he logged a very strong ride considering the flu. The aptly named Jake Canada took fourth in Toronto, with Darryn Dunham rounding out the top five.

Of the remaining riders, Honda’s Justin Bogle deserves special mention, having barely survived the LCQ qualifier and a horrible start in the main to finish eighth.

The win gives Barcia a comfortable 28-point lead in the Lites East title hunt ahead of Wharton.

“Right now I couldn’t be (happier),” said Barcia. “I got my first win here two years ago. My GEICO Honda was hooking up great. This track was really tough tonight. You had to be really smart and really smooth. I made a great pass for the lead and kind of just rode my own race from there.”
