Honda has just released the first details of two new scooter models, the 2013 PCX150 and 2013 Metropolitan. While not completely new, both scoots have significant upgrades, enough so that Big Red is classifying them as new models. As fuel prices continue to rise, there is no better time for Honda to introduce these gas sippers.

The Honda PCX150 is now legal for freeway use.
The 2012 Honda Metropolitan gets all-new styling and a new 50cc fuel-injected engine.
The 2013 Honda PCX150 is freeway capable thanks to its larger displacement, while the Metropolitan gets all-new styling and a fuel-injected 50cc four-stroke engine.

“This first release for 2013 models includes two scooters that are just right for the times—easy, convenient and fun transportation options that return truly amazing fuel efficiency,” said Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino. “Honda’s new Metropolitan and PCX150 scooters offer dependability, style, value and function in the best of Honda traditions, while also providing fun transportation.”

2013 PCX150

Featuring a new 150cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine, the new PCX150 is freeway capable while retaining all the features of the PCX125. A large seat accommodates two riders, and a large under-seat storage compartment that can hold a full-face helmet give the PCX150 expanded capabilities over a smaller scooter. We gave its predecessor a positive review in the 2011 Honda PCX125 Scooter First Ride and expect even more usability from this stylish scooter. Price is yet to be determined.

2013 Honda Metropolitan

For 2013 the Honda Metropolitan gets a new 50cc fuel-injected engine and all-new styling. Kicking off the new look is a new headlight and meter assembly. A different handlebar and new taillight finish off the new styling cues. Under the seat and 22-liter storage area is large enough to hold a helmet and a new inner storage bin holds a one-liter bottle. Finally a large convenience hook has been added to secure a any sort of bag. The 2013 Honda Metropolitan will be available in June with and MSRP of $1999.
