Byron's sure to be hunched over a laptop after the checkers are flown, caught in his own little version of heaven. Whether on dirt, street or a combination of both, MotoUSA's newest addition knows the only thing better than actually riding is telling the story of how things went down.

Moto 1

Muscle Milk Honda’s Ashley Fiolek took the win in Moto 1 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series Women’s Motocross event at Hangtown on Saturday. She was followed by Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki’s Jessica Patterson in second and Lucas Oil/Troy Lee Design’s Tarah Gieger in third.

The predicted battle between Fiolek and Patterson was in full view during Moto 1. Patterson trailed at the checkers by over four seconds, but was the only rider with a hope of besting Fiolek. Gieger crossed the Moto 1 finish line over 26 seconds behind the American Honda rider.

Sara Price of Motomingle.com lagged significantly behind the top three, over 30 seconds behind Gieger and over one minute behind Fiolek. Team Honda Muscle Milk’s newest rider Sayaka Kaneshiro was within a second of taking fourth place from the Kawasaki rider.

Jessica Patterson center scored the win overall in Womens Motocross followed by Ashley Fiolek left in second and Tarah Gieger right in third.

Moto 2

During Moto 2 Kawasaki Team Green’s Meghan Rutledge came across the finish line in first. Patterson made it a 2-2 day by coming in second and she was followed again by Geiger in third.

Rutledge’s win was an unexpected victory given her eighth place finish in Moto 1. Patterson was right on her heels though, following just 1.4 seconds behind the Kawasaki rider. The two finished with a large gap between them and third place finisher, Gieger.

Kaneshiro bettered her Moto 1 performance by sliding up the timesheet and scoring a fourth place finish. Her finish was all the more commendable since it was over almost ten seconds ahead of defending champion Fiolek.

Despite her fifth place finish in Moto 2, Fiolek now stands second in overall points behind Patterson. The Rockstar Suzuki rider earned first overall by three points thanks to her consistent 2-2 finishes on Saturday. Gieger follows in third, only four points off the lead, while Rutledge holds down fourth at 38.

“Today was pretty good,” said Patterson. “In the first moto I got a good start but I made a few mistakes and got passed, so I just rode the race out and finished second. In the second moto, I was leading for a while and made a good pass at the beginning, but then I made a mistake and crashed, but I came back and got second. At least I got the Overall and I’m happy with that. We’ll just look forward to next week and hopefully come back with a one-one.”

Defending Womens MX champ Ashley Fiolek took a 1-5 finish at Hangtown.
Jessica Pattersons 2-2 finish secured her the top overall spot in Womens Motocross at Hangtown.
