According to American Suzuki’s official Facebook page (Suzuki Scoop), James Stewart has joined the Yoshimura Suzuki team after parting ways with Yamaha and Joe Gibbs Racing yesterday. Stewart, 26, will compete on Suzuki’s RM-Z450 motorcycle beginning at the first round of the AMA Motocross Championship at Northern California’s Hangtown later this month.
“I’m really looking forward to joining the team,” said Stewart. ”It’s been a pleasure to get to test with these guys and meet the team. I’m very excited – I love the bike – Ever since I rode it from day one I knew it was a great opportunity for me to come out and showcase my talent.”
Stewart will be supported by the motorcycle tuning aces at Yoshimura along with current team manager Mike Webb and mechanic Lee McCollum.
Webb added, “We all look forward to working with James and a rider of his caliber. We feel very confident we can provide him with the equipment that he needs to ride to his capability.”
Among other accomplishments to his credit, Stewart has six AMA Championships, including two AMA Supercross titles, a FIM World Supercross Championship and two Motocross des Nations titles.
