Byron's sure to be hunched over a laptop after the checkers are flown, caught in his own little version of heaven. Whether on dirt, street or a combination of both, MotoUSA's newest addition knows the only thing better than actually riding is telling the story of how things went down.

Yamaha Extended Service’s Cameron Beaubier made it a perfect weekend after taking the win in Daytona SportBike Race 2 at Barber Motorsports Park. M4 Suzuki’s Dane Westby came in second followed by Geico Suzuki’s Martin Cardenas in third. Beaubier’s teammate Tommy Hayden came across the finish in fourth and Meen Motorsports’ Bobby Fong rounded out the top five.

“It feels awesome to get my first win here, then back it up with another win on the second day,” Beaubier said. “I tried to save my tires as much as I could in the beginning, and I was able to pour it on towards the end of the race. I’m so happy to get this win for my team. They worked hard in this heat, and it really paid off.”

Early in the contest, Team Latus Motors’ Jason DiSalvo held the lead ahead of Hayden, but both riders fell behind mid-race to fifth and sixth and were unable to recover podium position before the checkers. The top six riders were well within one second of the lead for much of Race 2 and positions changed hands a number of times before the end. Beaubier never fell further than fourth place and commanded the lead for much of the final portion of the race.

Fong had the chance to earn his first podium of the season, holding to second-place for a handful of laps during the contest but remained unable to break past fifth once he’d fallen back. Cardenas managed to move up the standings, coming off a start which left him in sixth place. The Colombian was able to get in the top four after the opening laps, though the field was packed like a can of sardines. Westby also moved through various positions and the Oklahoma native even held the lead during the final laps, but couldn’t hold Beaubier back.

Cardenas had a relatively lackluster performance at Barber, considering his string of wins earlier in this season, but remains the leader in points. DiSalvo continues to hold second, but now is in a tie with Westby for the position. Hayden lost some ground on Westby after Race 2 but remains in fourth and is followed by Beaubier, who’s impressive pair of wins bumped him from eighth to fifth.
