Ronnie Renner flew to unprecedented heights in the Moto X Step Up event at X Games 18 in Los Angeles. Renner cleared 47 feet for the gold, 10 feet higher than the winning height in 2011 posted by Matt Buyten. This year, Buyten settled for silver, soaring to 46 feet. Metal Mulisha co-founder Brian Deegan took the bronze with 39 feet. Myles Richmond fell short of a spot on the podium by three feet, coming in fourth, with Todd Potter rounding out the top five.

“With out these opportunities we won’t have these moments,” Renner said. “It if wasn’t for X Games the platform of our sport wouldn’t be where it’s at today. God I love Step Up because there are no judges.”

Renner now has three X Games gold medals to his credit, all in Step Up.
