Byron's sure to be hunched over a laptop after the checkers are flown, caught in his own little version of heaven. Whether on dirt, street or a combination of both, MotoUSA's newest addition knows the only thing better than actually riding is telling the story of how things went down.

Mike Mason took home the gold in Moto X Speed and Style.

Mike Mason beat out defending Moto X Speed and Style gold medalist Nate Adams in the final match-up on Saturday. Mason trailed Adams through the seeding, quarter and semi-finals, but pulled out all the stops to score a winning 92.8 points. Adams tied his best score of the day at 91.3 which he set in the quarter-finals, but it just wasn’t enough to earn the gold this year. Mason and Adams were the only two riders to break into the 90-point range throughout the contest.

Mason got out front early in the gold medal match and had a decent gap by the checkers. Throwing a huge Holy Grab mid race, coupled with a two-plus second lead gave Mason his first ever X Games gold.

Mason bested Ronnie Faisst in the semi-finals, and Adams knocked out Edgar Torronteras. The winner of each heat in the semi’s advanced leaving the top two to duke it out against each other in a head-on match for X Games glory. Faisst was awarded the bronze medal after Torronteras was unable to compete for the number three spot.
