There has always been a connection between the booming MMA scene and the emergence of stunt riding as a professional sport. The development curves of the two sports are similar and MMA fans tend to like motorcycles and young motorcyclists love MMA. The XDL Championship Series is formalizing that connection in a partnership with Self Killers Industries, a life-style brand based in the action sports mecca of Southern California. Self Killers Industries is a company founded on the principle of promoting the extreme risks taken by athletes that push the limits of themselves and the sport. Without these extreme sports athletes the actions sports world would plateau. Self Killers Industries presently manufacturers lifestyle gear for the stunt riding and MMA scenes in support of this movement.
“This new relationship has a lot of potential and I’m excited to see it develop,” stated XDL series founder Randy Grube. “We’re already working on a couple t-shirt collaborations combining XDL and Self Killers logos and artwork, and I can’t wait to see how they turn out.”
When asked about the origin and meaning of the company’s name, founder Dan Hernandez said: “The term “Self Killers” was adopted to describe extreme sports athletes. Mainly because the death defying tricks and actions they perform are viewed as very dangerous and possibly fatal by people who don’t understand our culture. The name should not be looked at in a negative light. It’s just a way of describing a group of people who ignore the nay-sayers and do what they love. Above all, they make the things that seem impossible, possible.”

In 2011 Dan Hernandez decided to take the first step in making his dream a reality. He envisioned bringing all action sports together as one brand. He wanted to create a company that represented hard work, and anybody who wasn’t afraid of putting it all on the line to do something they love. Self Killers Industries was born with the clear mission of bringing badass apparel to action sports supporters and to provide sponsorship to up and coming extreme sports athletes.
XDL is the only championship of its kind and is a leader in reaching the 18-34 old sportbike demographic.
