Sena Technologies, Inc., a Bluetooth innovator in the motorcycle and outdoor activities market, announced that its engineers have completed an extensive and comprehensive firmware upgrade for the company’s best-selling SMH10 Bluetooth headset and intercom for motorcycles. Released in late July 2012, the new firmware updates the device from version 3.3 to version 4.1. The update is free to download for all existing SMH10 users and comes standard in all new SMH10 systems.
The update allows users to utilize four-way conference intercom without sacrificing rider-to-rider intercom distance. The 4.1 firmware also offers multipoint support for two Bluetooth HFP (Hands Free Profile) devices such as cell phones, GPS and Sena’s SR10 two-way radio Bluetooth adapter. Riders may connect to a Sena SR10 at the same time with a phone connection. This lets the rider talk over the phone or through their two-way radio, all on Bluetooth, while being connected to both devices at the same time. The new SMH10 firmware update also features new voice prompts that are spoken automatically into the SMH10 speakers to guide the user in making choices and understanding what is happening during headset use. New performance improvements in audio management and intercom function are also present after installing the new firmware.
“Since bringing the SMH10 onto the market in 2010, Sena has received numerous accolades and awards for its innovation and we work very hard to stay ahead of the cutting edge so we can anticipate what our customers want and need in terms of the latest technology,” said Tae Kim, President and CEO of Sena Technologies, Inc. “We feel the SMH10 is a great product, though we’re always working to improve what it can do and we pass that onto our customers.”
Sena’s SMH10 version 4.1firmware is easy and free to download from Sena’s website – www.SenaBluetooth.com – and simple to install using a USB cable included with the original product. Users must register their SMH10 online before downloading Sena firmware updates.
In addition to the SMH10 v4.1 firmware, Sena also released new manager software for Windows and Mac OS X. Registered end-users may download the SMH10 v4.1 firmware and corresponding manager software for free at www.SenaBluetooth.com/support.
The SMH10 standard package with boom microphone is $209 for a single package and $379 for a dual package. The Sena SMH10 with universal microphone kit which includes both a boom and wired mic is $219 for a single and $399 for a dual package.
