Barracuda Networks will provide a mobile solar charging unit to fuel the battery pack on the Lightning SuperBike.
Barracuda Networks Inc. today announced a partnership with Lightning Motorcycles that would power the nine-lap FIM E-Power & TTX Championships race at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix with electricity harnessed from the sun, making this the first motorcycle to complete the MotoGP race with a zero carbon footprint.
Through this partnership, Barracuda Networks has provided a mobile solar charging unit that will fuel the lithium ion battery pack onboard the Lightning SuperBike. The 20kwh solar charging unit will provide enough electricity to power the SuperBike’s 100-mile range, effectively making the SuperBike 100 percent pollution free for the race.
“We are excited to partner with Lightning Motorcycles on this historic event,” said Michael Perone, co-founder and chief marketing officer at Barracuda Networks. “At Barracuda Networks, we thrive on innovative technology, speed and competition, and the MotoGP is the perfect venue to debut our partnership and bike.”
The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring the MotoGP World Championship will be held on July 27-29 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. MotoGP is the premier motorcycle racing world championship; an 18-race series visiting 14 countries, four continents and with pan-global television coverage. Hundreds of journalists, photographers and broadcasters travel from around the world to gather alongside the more than 100,000 fans who flock to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to cheer on their favorite rider.
