Scot Harden, Vice President of Global Marketing for Zero Motorcycles, accepting the Made In The U.S.A. Hall of Fame award from Joel Joseph, Chairman for the Made In The U.S.A. Foundation.
With a new manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters located near Santa Cruz, Calif., in Scotts Valley, Zero’s strategic location near the technically innovative Silicon Valley is no coincidence. Dedicated to developing groundbreaking technology within the continually evolving electric motorcycle industry, Zero employs more than 75 engineers, designers, manufacturing personnel and corporate representatives within the United States alone.
“Zero Motorcycles is dedicated to not only creating the best electric motorcycles on the market, but to also supporting our local community by providing good paying manufacturing jobs. Our bikes are 100 percent designed, engineered and assembled in the United States by hard-working Americans at our Santa Cruz facility,” said Scot Harden, Vice President of Global Marketing for Zero Motorcycles. “We are honored to be recognized by the Made In The U.S.A. Foundation and thank them for their support of the hard working Zero Motorcycles team.”
The Foundation had announced 60 nominees for 20 awards for the Made in the U.S.A. Hall of Fame. The 2012 nominees feature energy-efficient vehicles, including electric cars and motorcycles, solar panels and more. Judging was based on three criteria: “quality”, “competitiveness” and “impact.” “Quality” comparisons included use of Consumer Reports, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (awarded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology) and other evaluating entities. A company’s “competitiveness” criteria included industry comparisons with imports and ability to export. For “impact” evaluation, the judges looked for a company’s commitment to breakthroughs in technology, a new product or exceptional designs.
The Made In The U.S.A. Foundation works to promote United States-based manufacturing and the critical role domestic manufacturing plays in the creation of sustainable United States jobs. The Made In The U.S.A. Foundation’s Hall of Fame celebrates businesses who exhibit excellence in United States-based manufacturing practices and standards. The nominees were evaluated on their contribution to job creation in the United States and labor and environmental standards, among other criteria.
