For the third year in a row, and as a part of the Hamsters annual motorcycle group banquet, Allstate Insurance Company has donated $5,000 to Children’s Care Hospital and School of Rapid City, S.D., the Hamsters official charity.
Allstate motorcycle spokesperson and legendary bike builder, Dave Perewitz is one of the founding members of the Hamsters, a group of custom motorcycle enthusiasts from across the globe who consider the black hills their second home. The donation was presented to Perewitz, along with custom motorcycle builders Rick Fairless and Arlen Ness, on Monday, August 6 at the group’s annual induction ceremony and banquet, held each year during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Children’s Care strives to develop and manage resources that support the Children’s Care Hospital and School with a mission to provide excellence in family-centered services for children with special health care and education needs.
The Hamsters banquet consists of a silent auction and dinner; and draws more than 600 attendees each year. In order to become a member; each individual must be sponsored by an existing member, own a custom bike and have attended Sturgis at least two times. The group, which has grown to more than 300 members since forming in 1978, sees the banquet as a time to give back to the Sturgis community.
