Johnny Lewis, the 28-year-old actor who played Kip “Half Sack” Epps on Sons of Anarchy for two seasons, was found dead yesterday in the driveway of a three-story home in the Los Feliz neighborhood near Hollywood’s Griffith Park. An 81-year-old woman inside the home was also found dead, the apparent victim of a brutal murder.
Police were responding to a call from neighbors who said they heard screams of help coming from inside the house when they found Katherine Davis, 81, dead at the scene. Davis was Lewis’ landlady. The former SOA actor was also found dead in the driveway of the house and police are trying to discern whether he jumped or fell to his death. Detectives are also trying to determine if he did indeed kill his landlady because according to a report on Yahoo!TV, Cmdr. Andrew Smith of the LAPD said “Smith may have been beaten and Lewis was the suspect.”
Reports also state that neighbors said Lewis had jumped a fence, gotten into a confrontation with a painter and homeowner next door to Davis’ house, then jumped back over the fence. The neighbors are quoted as saying Lewis “was impervious to the blows” he took during the fracas in an LA Times report.
An autopsy will be performed on Thurdsay to find out whether drugs were involved as they try to piece together the clues from this bizarre scene. Lewis’ character on SOA was killed off in the finale of season two.
