James Rispoli doubled up at Miami, winning a red flad-shortened SuperSport race on Sunday.

Celtic Racing’s James Rispoli claimed the Motorcycle SuperSport victory during a red flag-shortened Sunday race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The West Coast SuperSport points leader was joined on the podium by Road Race Factory Yamaha rider Tomas Puerta and Castrol Triumph’s Dustin Dominguez.

Rispoli led from the start, with Rider’s Discount Vesrah Suzuki’s Jake Lewis giving chase. Eventual podium finishers Puerta and Dominguez battled for top five positions with’s Stefano Mesa and Puerta’s teammate, Hayden Gillim. Garrett Gerloff was in the mix as well – the Daytona SportBike competitor returning to action in SuperSport after breaking his leg earlier this season aboard the Y.E.S. Graves Yamaha.

Puerta and Dominguez began to charge forward, about two seconds behind Rispoli, as the race wound on and riders began encountering lapped riders. Meanwhile Lewis dropped back behind Mesa and Gillim.

On Lap 11 the red flag was shown after a rider went down. During the stoppage a weather hold was imposed, with concerns over lightening from nearby severe weather. After an extended delay, the race was called, with the end of Lap 10 the official finishing order.

The Miami Race 2 victory won’t net Rispolil any points for his West Coast SuperSport title hopes – though he retains a comfortable lead over Gillim. The Sunday results do help Dominguez, who extends his lead over Lewis in the East Coast SuperSport standings.
