Byron's sure to be hunched over a laptop after the checkers are flown, caught in his own little version of heaven. Whether on dirt, street or a combination of both, MotoUSA's newest addition knows the only thing better than actually riding is telling the story of how things went down.

James Rispoli 1 and Dustin Dominguez 68 battled for the front but a penalty on Dominguez ensured Rispoli would end with the win.
James Rispoli (1) and Dustin Dominguez (68) battled for the front, but a penalty on DD gave Rispoli the advantage.

Celtic Racing’s James Rispoli took the win in AMA Pro SuperSport at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Following over 11 seconds back in second was newly returned rider Garrett Gerloff of Yamaha Extended Service. RoadRace Factory’s Tomas Puerta rounded out the podium.

Rispoli and Castrol Triumph’s Dustin Dominguez went head-to-head out front in the opening laps of the race, with Dominguez holding the lead through the opening laps. Rispoli finally got to the front and had to hold off intense pressure from the Triumph rider, but got a break mid race when Dominguez was penalized 20 seconds for passing under a waving yellow flag.

“The race was pretty difficult,” Rispoli said. “It was a little slick today and we just tried to get a good start and run a good pace. I saw that (Dustin and I) had a pretty good gap and then I didn’t know what was going on with the 20 seconds. I got back by Dustin and brought it home. I didn’t know what was going on so I just kept pushing like it was the last lap and we were pushing for the win.”
Dominguez fell back to 11th after the penalized time was added and was able to battle back up to sixth before the checkers.

Gerloff was engaged in a fierce battle for third-place with Puerta and his teammate Hayden Gillim, Suzuki’s Elena Myers and Eyeball NYC’s Miles Thornton. Myers lost position late in the race as the others pushed forward and Thornton slipped as well after crashing in the final laps. Gerloff bested Puerta by just 0.052 at the checkers and Gillim was an additional 0.113 back in fourth.’s Stefano Mesa worked his way through the pack to fifth.

Riders Discount Vesrah Suzuki’s Jake Lewis, in the running for the Eastern Division points lead, lost ground after a difficult start left him languishing mid-pack. He was unable to gain ground through the course of the race and finished in 15th.
