Team Zero earned victory at the final round of TTXGP racing at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in the electric motorcycle industry, is proud to announce that their TTXGP Team Zero riders came away with victory during the final round of racing this past Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. After taking top honors at each of the three previous rounds of the TTXGP eSuperstock Series held this year, Team Zero’s victories this weekend were led by Kenyon Kluge taking first place with teammates Andrew Cowell and Kenny Cummings filling out the podium. Kluge was recognized with top honors for the series championship and entered the record books as the first ever TTXGP North American eSuperstock Class Champion.
Team Zero is comprised of Zero employees and the bikes used are all stock motorcycles. The camaraderie and teamwork by Zero is truly what separates this team and company apart from the competition. Kenyon Kluge claimed the eSuperstock Championship and also finished 2nd overall in points for the TTXGP North America Rider Championship. Zero Motorcycles had more motorcycles compete in this year’s TTXGP than any other brand, mainly because the highly popular Zero S model is available for consumers to buy today and race tomorrow.
“What an exciting time to be with Zero Motorcycles. We were able to accomplish what no other electric motorcycle company could accomplish. We took stock motorcycles and raced them throughout the entire season. The same bikes consumers can buy today are the same bikes we raced on the track,” said Kenyon Kluge, Director of Electrical Engineering for Zero Motorcycles and the 2012 eSuperstock Class Champion.
“A huge congratulations to the entire Zero team and all the riders involved. Special recognition goes to the Zero support team. Consisting mostly of employees of Zero Motorcycles, Team Zero’s passion and commitment for making production class e-motorcycle racing a reality was the driving force behind this new series. Also, our fantastic sponsors – Pirelli, Heroic Racing Apparel, Bell Helmets, Sevcon, Alpinestars, Steel MX Optics and Aftershocks Suspension – made this season possible. Additional thanks should go to the foresight and vision of the promoters of TTXGP. We had a great season and are honored for our riders to be recognized with the first ever championship on the books.”
Riding identically prepared production Zero S ZF9 models, Team Zero tackled the 2.2 mile track and its technical 14 corner layout while reaching top speeds of 90 mph. As the only production motorcycle in a field of modified factory racing machines, Zero Motorcycles has proven it is a race-worthy motorcycle, performing consistently at competitive levels through the course of an entire race season. Built for both the road and the racetrack and reliable in extreme conditions, Zero Motorcycles has earned its first major road racing championship and the inaugural TTXGP eSuperstock North American Championship.
