Proposed Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas. The plans to host MotoGP in 2013 have fallen into doubt during legal wranglings.
The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas has been confirmed as the third stop on the 2013 MotoGP calendar.

Back in September, MotoGP legend and current Bridgestone Safety Advisor to Dorna Loris Capirossi posted a working draft of the 2013 MotoGP calendar. MotoGP officials just released an updated version of the schedule, confirming a third stop in the United States at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas in addition to the stops at Laguna Seca and Indianapolis. COTA was the focus of recent controversy as former MotoGP star Kevin Schwantz and his company 3Four Texas filed suit against the circuit, alleging COTA backtracked on an agreement with Schwantz’s company to conduct the GP race at its facility. Dorna, a third party in the matter, alleged that 3Four Texas “failed to provide evidence before June 28th, 2012 about the company having obtained all the necessary rights, licenses and permits related with the availability of the Circuit of the Americas,” and went forward with a direct agreement with COTA. Talks continue between the parties, but at least now it’s clear that a MotoGP race will take place in Texas in 2013. Additionally, Round 9 at the Sachsenring circuit in Germany was moved up in the schedule from July 14th to July 7th. Round 2 remains “to-be-confirmed” and Round 4 at Jerez de la Frontera is still “subject to contract.” MotoUSA- Byron Wilson
