The V-Strom 1000 concept features notable visible changes from the current model. The chassis appears to have a completely new frame, with the front forks now inverted. Suzuki’s press announcement states the concept model makes us of traction control, with integrated luggage a standard feature. Radial-mount calipers are another evident upgrade for the new ADV mount, which sports the now superfluous ABS as well.
A liquid-cooled V-Twin will continue to be power the Strom. And while it looks similar to the existing 966cc mill, Suzuki identifies it as 1000cc. Details are forthcoming, though it’s worth noting that when Suzuki updated its 650 V-Strom, it opted to slightly tweak the engine internals rather than start from scrap.
The 2014 V-Strom 1000 concept is an appeal to the ever-growing ADV market, but based simply on appearance this bike will be much more suited to road travel than for any type of demanding off-roading adventure. In this regard, it appears akin to the Versys 1000 that debuted last year, as the Japanese marques look to challenge the Euro-dominated large-displacement ADV market. Information is limited about the specifics of the V-Strom 1000 concept at this point, but we’ll be keeping an ear to the ground for additional information throughout the year.
