The bikes, manufactured from September 2011 through December 2012, may have side-stand attachment bolts that could start to loosen, leading to the risk of the stand separating from the frame of the motorcycle and causing the bike to fall.
BMW will notify owners of affected models and dealers will “clean the side-stand mounting plate threads and replace the side-stand mounting plate bolts, free of charge,” according to the NHTSA report. Owners can contact BMW direct by phone at 1-800-525-7417 or by email at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
