Byron's sure to be hunched over a laptop after the checkers are flown, caught in his own little version of heaven. Whether on dirt, street or a combination of both, MotoUSA's newest addition knows the only thing better than actually riding is telling the story of how things went down.

The seven-lap AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series race at Daytona saw 2012 title challenger Tyler O’Hara of eco Fuel Saver earn a dramatic win thanks to a late move for the front. The battle was heated between the top-10 riders, with positions changing hands through nearly every turn. Revolution Performance’s Kyle Wyman was able to hold to second-place, trailing O’Hara by seven-hundredths of a second at the checkers. Rossmeyers Harley-Davidson’s Bobby Fong rounded out the podium.

The racers were right on top of each other through the entire contest, especially coming off the high banks where the draft would whip riders from as far back as seventh or eighth to the front of the pack.

“It was crazy, it was almost like running a Pro Single on a mile, a lot of times I was just riding my rear brake trying not to hit the guy in front of me,” said O’Hara. “It’s all about putting yourself in the right place at the right time here.

“I’ve been working extra hard, it was a long off-season and that’s past us, we’re all looking forward now and we’re in it for the long haul.”

Wyman spent time out front, back in the pack and almost everywhere in between during the contest.

“That’s draft at a whole other level,” said Wyman of the experience racing on the high banks at Daytona. “I put myself in different spots to see where I’d end up coming out of the straightaway, but you’ve got 15 XRs trying to occupy the same piece of real estate and you’re going to run into some problems, I’m just thankful that nobody got into each other. You could have thrown a tissue over all of us.”

Trailing Fong, Rossiter’s Harley-Davidson’s Michael Corbino finished in fourth, followed by Suburban Harley-Davidson’s Benjamin Carlson in fifth. Steve Crevier of Motorsports Plus ended the day in sixth, but the Canadian rider put up quite a fight, spending time out front during the final laps. Fong’s teammate, Michael Barnes ended in seventh, followed by Mob Racing’s Shane Narbonne in eighth and Harv’s Harley-Davidson’s Travis Wyman in ninth.

O’Hara now leads the series by six points over Kyle Wyman, and Fong is an additional four points back in third.
