Raised on two wheels in the deserts of Nevada, the newest addition to the MotoUSA crew has been part of the industry for well over 15 years.Equal parts writer, photographer, and rider, "JDawg" is a jack of all trades and even a master of some.

Crashes played a major role in the AMA Monster Energy Supercross 250 class championship in Indianapolis. Wil Hahn leaves Lucas Oil Stadium still atop the points after battling from the back of the pack to third place with the eventual overall Lites winner, Marvin Musquin. Sandwiched between the two was Kyle Peters, who nabbed his highest career finish with a second place. But what of Dean Wilson and Blake Wharton?

Even before the gate dropped for the main event, Dean Wilson’s championship hopes were dashed with a crash in the second 250 heat race. Attemping to double out of the third turn past his teammate Justin Hill, Wilson jumped wide and cased a double and slammed to the ground and would not be seen for the remainder of the night’s racing. The Pro Circuit racer was taken to the hospital for tests.

This left some breathing room for Hahn, but it would be short lived as both the Honda rider and Musquin got tangled up behind some loose tuff blocks on the inside of the first turn. It seemed that Hahn’s point lead wouldn’t be as large as it should be coming out of Round 11, and the French KTM rider was in the same situation.

Rockstar Suzuki’s Blake Wharton grabbed the holeshot and ran away after a short skirmish with Kyle Peters. It was his race to lose, as his two championship rivals had to deal with a tight, loose track that was difficult to pass on. Meanwhile Peters ran a consistent pace that looked like it would secure a second place.

Musquin and Hahn worked their way into the top five with four laps left, salvaging a good points race situation gone bad. KTM’s French ace continued to push, dispatching A.J. Catanzaro for third with four to go, and then closed in on Peters with Hahn following in short order.

On Lap 13, Musquin got by Peters but Wharton was long gone on his way to his second win in a row at Indy. But with just a half a lap left, Wharton went over the bars and handed Musquin his second win in a row.

Peters held out for second, Hahn fought all the way back for third and Catanzaro got his highest career finish in fourth place. Wharton remounted to cross the line in fifth.

“I fought all the way through the 15 laps and I won. It was a lucky one,” said Musquin on the podium. “I was happy with second, but two in a row – it’s fantastic.”

Hahn holds onto the points lead with 112 over Musquin’s 103 points as Wharton trails in third with 92. Dean Wilson drops to fourth with 87, effectively ending his chances of a championship with just three rounds remaining.
