Danny Torres is just one of the Red Bull X-Fighters that will ride at Glen Helen Raceway the only stop in the U.S.
Twelve of the world’s best freestyle motocross riders are gearing up to return to the biggest FMX playground ever created at Red Bull X-Fighters Glen Helen. Taking place on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. PT at Glen Helen Raceway, the event marks the only U.S. stop in the six event global series.
Riders competing at Glen Helen include 2012 series champion Levi Sherwood (New Zealand), 2012 Glen Helen winner Todd Potter (USA), Tom Pages (France), Dany Torres (Spain), Javier Villegas (Chile), Nate Adams (USA), Josh Sheehan (Australia), Rob Adelberg (Australia), Taka Higashino (Japan), Wes Agee (USA), Adam Jones (USA) and David Rinaldo (France).
Particularly of note will be the return of Adams, who hasn’t competed in Red Bull X-Fighters since 2011. Adams is one of the series’ most prolific competitors, with two championships, six event wins and 18 podiums during his time in the event series. Local Southern Californian Agee, who took third at Glen Helen last year and also third in Moto X Freestyle at X Games in Brazil in April will also return, as will Higashino, who took first place ahead of Agee in Brazil.
Red Bull X-Fighters kicked off its six-city world tour in Mexico City on March 8, where 38,000 spectators packed into the Plaza de Toros, the world’s largest bullfighting arena, to watch Pages of France take first place. The series then continued to Dubai on April 12, where Torres took top honors under the shadow of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Following the return to Glen Helen on May 11, the riders will travel to Osaka, Japan (June 1), Madrid (July 19) and finish the season in Pretoria, South Africa (September 7). Created in 2001, Red Bull X-Fighters has grown to become the biggest and most respected freestyle motocross series on the planet, featuring the world’s best riders throwing down groundbreaking tricks in stunning locations across the globe.
Red Bull X-Fighters Glen Helen is opening gates at 10 a.m. for spectators to come early and enjoy all the excitement before the event begins. Activities will include autograph sessions with Red Bull X-Fighters riders, vendor row featuring top industry brands with demo and giveaways, a motorcycle trials demo with Geoff Aaron, a hill climb demo with Brett Peterson, the opportunity to play the Red Bull X-Fighters app, merchandise and concessions, and even a Circle K Convenience Store to purchase anything you may have forgotten for the day.
Besides all the two wheel action, spectators will be treated to a performance by the Red Bull aerobatic helicopter and aerobatic Edge 540 plane, a skydive by members of the Red Bull Air Force, and X Games gold medalist Ronnie Renner hitting the course in a desert sand rail.
