Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez spent a day in the garage as Repsol Honda’s plans to test the new 2014 RC213V prototype machine at Motorland Aragon were stalled by wet weather. The team’s technical director, Takeo Yokoyama, took advantage of the downtime to present the new machine to the press and provided this statement, provided courtesy of Repsol Honda PR, which is included in full below.

“This is the prototype of 2014 machine. It is a complete new bike, both in term of engine and chassis. Our plan is to test it now in order to be able to do, eventually, some change before the after-race test in Valencia in November. Anyway, if Dani [Pedrosa] and Marc [Márquez] find something in the bike that they really feel is a big improvement compared with their actual RC213V, HRC will do its best to provide this later this season as we did last year.”

LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl did venture out in the rain on the new bike for 15 laps, while Go & Fun Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista put in a handful of laps on his current machine to better prepare for wet conditions. The consensus was that little could be learned in such difficult conditions. Yamaha and Suzuki teams are expected to arrive at the track Wednesday to test as well.
