Geico Honda’s Eli Tomac came out on top in the 250 class with a masterful performance from Southwick, Massachusetts. The Colorado native used his expertise in the sand to record a 1-2 finish. Second overall was KTM’s Ken Roczen ahead of Tomac’s teammate Zach Osborne.

“Once you start winning motos and overalls that confidence just builds and builds,” said Tomac after the race. “It was great to get the overall, but a little disappointing at the same time because of that second moto. I got a good start in the first moto and thought I had my technique figured out, but I got a little squirrely there [in Moto 2] and got shuffled to the back, so I had to fight. It’s really cool to be the last 250 Class winner here at Southwick. This track has always been one I’ve looked up to and wanted to race at as a little kid.”

Ken Roczen put in a solid result but made a mistake in the first moto tipping over while chasing down Blake Baggett for second position. The German rider turned things around in the second moto taking a win and netting third place overall for the weekend.

“I’m really happy to win another moto,” said Roczen. “It always feels good winning. I got a really bad start in the first moto when Marvin [Musquin] was forced into me in the opening turn. Starting a race mid-pack always ends up being a lot of extra work so I was happy in Moto 2 when I go the holeshot and was able to ride my own race. I didn’t get tired and felt good the whole moto which I’m really happy about. The team and I have also come a long way this week dialing my race bike in to my likings. Every rider is different and what works for Marvin set-up wise doesn’t necessarily work for me. We worked a lot on my set-up this past week and it showed today. I’m really happy with the way everything panned out this week.”

After finishing strong in Moto 1, Blake Baggett ran into some bad luck in the second moto finishing eighth. But when averaged he was scored fourth overall ahead of Rockstar Suzuki’s Jason Anderson and Troy Lee Designs’ Cole Seely.
