His insatiable thirst for life is only surpassed by his monthly fuel bill. Whether rocketing on land, flying through the air, or jumping the seas, our Road Test Editor does it all and has the scars to prove it.

AMA Pro Road Racing Champion Jake Zemke will be joining the Riders Discount Triumph team in the Daytona SportBike class for the remaining three races this season. Zemke will be riding alongside young gun Joey Pascarella on Triumph’s recently updated ’13 Daytona 675R.

Zemke, 38, is a veteran racer having competed in the AMA ranks for over 16 years. Along the way he’s netted one Formula Xtreme Championship in 2008 and a Daytona 200 win in ’06. Most recently he helped us out as a test rider during our 2013 Middleweight Supersport Shootout.

“I’m going ride the last three races on the Triumph wide open going see what happens,” jokes Zemke. “I have been talking to those guys since early in the season. It has just taken a little while to put everything together. Luckily everyone at Rider Discount was 100% behind it as well as Triumph.”

“It’s a good bike for sure,” continues Zemke, who tested the racebike briefly at Illinois’ Autobahn Raceway prior to the Road America round. “It’s really good in stock form I’m really looking forward to working with the AMA rules and see how many things we can improve on from the base package which is already pretty good.“

This weekend Zemke heads to Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park for his first official race weekend with the team.
