The 17-year-old will go toe to toe with some of the world’s best riders when he competes in the Enduro X class, which races Aug. 4 at Staples Center as part of X Games Los Angeles.

“I for sure want to bang bars with the top guys and reach the main event and kind of make a name for myself and let them know I’m not just a little kid anymore,” Tremaine said. “I’m 17, so I’ll be the youngest one there, but I want people to see me as a threat and not just another rider at the gates.”

Tremaine earned an invitation to X Games because he sits 19th in the current GEICO Endurocross points standings on his KTM.

“Last year was my first year of Endurocross,” Tremaine said. “I found out that you make it to X Games if you’re top 20 in points. That motivated me to train and work hard and get better at the sport. I spent my whole off-season training and getting myself ready. I went into this season with my sights set high and ended up being 19th in points and getting the invite to X Games.”

The Endurocross season is in the middle of a three-month break, giving Tremaine time to concentrate on the X Games.

“The whole time in between, I’ve been training super hard,” Tremaine said. “My main goal is to get into that main event.”

The X Games are in their 19th year highlighting the world’s best action sports athletes, and Tremaine is eager to match his skills against the best riders around.

“It’s a world-class event,” Tremaine said. “They only invited 24 guys out of the entire world, and I’m honored to be one of those guys and to be a part of it. It’s like the Olympics for action sports. You’ve got all the guys from all the different disciplines joining into one big event. I’m really happy to be a part of it.”
