Motorcyclists at the Northern Indiana Ride for Kids brought $52,652 in donations for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation on July 14. More than 230 people participated in the event, which began on a sunny morning at Pinhook Park in South Bend.

The event’s Stars were the 10 local brain tumor survivors who led the ride: Hannah, Lucas, Daniel, Prestin, Karyn, Libbie, Corey, Patrick, Lindy and Jennifer.

“I heard about [Ride for Kids] and my family told me I had to come, not only for me, but to try and show these kids that there is a future,” said Patrick, a two-time brain tumor survivor. “It’s tough, but you just have to keep going moving forward.”

As of ride time, the individuals, motorcycle club/chapter and motorcycle business with the most raised were Georgia and E.J. Ford ($14,532), ABATE Region 2 ($17,321) and B&E Honda ($19,581).

The event is still collecting donations online at Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through Aug. 14.
