Byron's sure to be hunched over a laptop after the checkers are flown, caught in his own little version of heaven. Whether on dirt, street or a combination of both, MotoUSA's newest addition knows the only thing better than actually riding is telling the story of how things went down.

Don’s Kawasaki’s Henry Wiles staged a come-from-behind performance in GNC Expert Singles at the Peoria TT, earning his ninth consecutive victory in the event. Specialty Fabrication Incorporation’s Brad Baker ended the night in second-place, followed by Burnett Farms Racing’s JD Beach in third. The Peoria TT marks the final round for GNC Expert Singles competition in 2013, and Baker finishes with the class championship, two points ahead of Wiles. Six rounds remain in GNC Expert Twins and Baker currently leads that class as well. He’s also at the top of the combined season tally, sitting 29 points ahead of Wiles.

Though Baker clinched the Expert Singles title, Wiles ruled the evening. During his heat race, Wiles ran into bike trouble and was forced to battle for a spot in the main event during a semifinal. He lined-up 13th on the grid, but got off to a strong start and by Lap 9 had already moved ahead of Baker for the lead. Wiles stretched out a small gap over the remaining laps, ending over three seconds ahead of Baker at the checkers.

“This is my track, at least for another year,” said Wiles. “These guys are awesome to compete against and I knew it was going to be a good show. I knew I wasn’t done after having to start from the back. Ultimately I have to thank the Lord. The only thing I wanted to do today was ride like a champion. I did all I could do. I’m so thankful and I’m so appreciative of my friends and family that came out here to support me. I’m glad I could just come out here and show my friends and sponsors what I’ve been doing all summer. All the time and effort I put into this sport couldn’t be more worth it. I wanted everyone to see how much I love this sport.”

Shaun Russell trailed Beach in fourth followed by Rod Lake Racing’s Briar Bauman in fifth. Zanotti Racing’s Stevie Bonsey took sixth with Weirbach Racing’s Robert Pearson trailing in seventh.

AMA Pro J&P Cycles Pro Singles

Mack Daddy Racing’s Rodney Spencer Jr. earned his first ever AMA Pro J&P Cycles Pro Singles win in Peoria, beating Bromley Brothers’ Dan Bromley by a slim three-tenths of a second at the checkers. RLJ Racing’s Justin Jones rounded out the podium.

“The bike was working great all day going into the main event,” said Spencer. “Once I got out front, I knew I had to make some moves to maintain the lead and I was just ready for that checkered flag to come out. I have to give a huge thanks to George Mack, if it wasn’t for him, none of this would be possible. I also have to thank all of my family, my girlfriend for supporting me so much while I’m on the road, and my sponsors. Those are the people who make all of this possible for me. I have to thank everyone for coming out too; this has been a great crowd all day.”

Spencer ran in third-place after the first lap behind Bromley and Jones, but then on Lap 4 Bromley went down and forced officials to restart the race. Following the restart, Jones settled into the lead for a number of laps before Spencer made his move to the front. Bromley, meanwhile, was on a charge to recover position and was cutting through the field, making it back to podium position by Lap 15. On final lap Bromley made it past Jones into second-place.

Vince & Denise Holt’s Jacob Lehman took fourth followed by Hunter MFG’s Hunter Taylor in fifth. Englehart Racing’s Jeffrey Lowery finished in sixth-place with Waters Auto Body’s Ryan Wells trailing in seventh.

Kirkland Racing’s Wyatt Maguire, who failed to make it out of qualifying at the Peoria TT, remains the overall Pro Singles points leader, but is now mathematically tied with Wells at 93. Spencer moved to third in the class followed by X-Trim’s Kyle Johnson in fourth.
