Shaun Ruddy of Chop Deville has been cleaning house on the custom bike show circuit with ‘Chop Deluxe,’ earning him the privilege to represent the US in next year’s AMD World Championships of Custom Bike Building in Germany.
Shaun Ruddy from Chop Deville, internationally renowned custom motorcycle designer and fabricator, enjoyed a successful trip to Sturgis and Milwaukee this past month winning all three motorcycle shows that he entered his latest hand-built custom motorcycle “Chop Deluxe” in.
Ruddy’s first competition was the prestigious J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder held on August 7th 2013 at Lazelle Street, Sturgis SD, where he not only won “People’s Choice,” but top honors, the “Ultimate Builder Freestyle Class.” This one day event had the best builders from all over the country competing for the Ultimate Builder award. The J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Competition features the world’s leading customized bikes and offers the largest prize purse of any builder competition on earth.
“I was so lucky to not only win, what I consider, the best award, “People’s Choice” which tells me what I am building what the public likes, but also “Ultimate Builder” which is voted for by fellow contestants showing me that my fellow builders also appreciate what I build,” stated Ruddy.
On day two, August 8th 2013, Ruddy took his bike “Chop Deluxe” to the Buffalo Chip where he competed in the 25th anniversary of the World famous Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show at Sturgis. Competitors came from all over the USA, Canada and other parts of the world to compete in the Custom Bike Show. TV cameras were everywhere, with the Travel Channel, CMT, and Discovery all filming this year’s contest. Ruddy once again outshone his competition by taking out both “Extreme Bobber” and “Best of Show” awards.
“To say I am excited & honored to not only take out yesterday’s competition but to now win this competition judged by Professional Judges as prestigious as the Rat’s Hole judges are is a total understatement. I am bloody wrapped,” stated Ruddy.
From Sturgis Ruddy and his wife Sheree then made the trip over to Milwaukee for the 2nd Annual AMD Invitational Custom Bike Show held on August 29th, 2013 at the Harley-Davidson Museum as part of their 110th anniversary celebration. Shaun Ruddy of Chop Deville once again outdid his competition with his Chop Deville Retro Racer. Shaun won the FreeStyle class and will be heading to Essen, Germany in 2014 for the World Championships, where he will represent the USA. “I cannot believe that we have backed up another win coming off our two wins in Sturgis. To have sacrificed everything and move to the USA and now represent the USA is an honor that I cannot even begin to describe. I will wear the team USA shirt with pride and do my very best to bring back the award for the USA,” stated Ruddy.
Ruddy has previosly won the following awards with “Chop Deluxe” – “Peoples Choice” at Artistry In Iron Las Vegas, J&P Cycles “Ultimate Builder” Long Beach and various other best of show awards.
“I would also like to thank my sponsors from Avon Tires, EFM Autoclutch, Boondocker NOS, I-Look 360 & Shade Valley Campground Sturgis for continued support & having faith in my ability,” added Ruddy.
