The Yamaha Champions Riding School, a division of Miller Performance located at Miller Motorsports Park, will discontinue operations at the conclusion of its final school on October 16, 2013.
The decision to discontinue the school is based upon an in-depth evaluation that determined the school could not be profitably sustained over the long term. Miller Motorsports Park remains committed to motorcycling with the support of track-day groups such as Apex Track Days and Keigwins @the Track, motorcycle schools such as the California Superbike School and our local race series, the Utah Sport Bike Association’s Masters of the Mountains championship.
There are three two-day schools remaining on the 2013 calendar for the Yamaha Champions Riding School: September 26-27, October 10-11 and October 14-15. These schools, which still have seats available, will be completed as planned.
“The decision to wind down the operations of the Yamaha Champions Racing School was a difficult one,” said John Larson, General Manager of Miller Performance. “We would like to express our appreciation to all of our guests who have supported the program since its inception. We would also like to thank our incredible staff of instructors along with our partners Yamaha Motor Corporation, Dunlop, Arai, Alpinestars, iON Camera, Odyssey Battery, Lucas Oil, Chatter Box, GYTR and Comfort Inn & Suites at Lake Point, for their hard work, support and dedication. We will continue to seek out opportunities to work with our YCRS partners as we go forward.”
“We are disappointed by this news, and know that this was a difficult decision for the Miller organization. Students who attended the school often said it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an invaluable education to help improve their safety and riding skills,” said David Docktor, Marketing Manager for Yamaha. “We are extremely proud of our association with the school, and thank Miller Performance and all the YCRS instructors and staff for their tireless and passionate devotion to the best in rider training. We will explore other opportunities to continue supporting on-track rider training for enthusiasts in the future.”
Miller Motorsports Park will continue to look at hosting world-class motorcycle events, including the GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series.
