Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in the electric motorcycle industry, today announced that the Foothill-De Anza Community College Police Department has purchased two 2013 Zero DS Police Motorcycles to add to the campus’ current patrol fleet. Foothill-De Anza Community College District has a focus on innovation and technology. With numerous narrow pathways on and off campus; the Zero Police DS Motorcycles provide a new solution to a safe and secure campus. With the recent purchase by Foothill-De Anza Community College District, the Zero DS Police Motorcycles are continuing to be utilized by security and law enforcement departments to meet the demands of today’s officers due to its ease of use, maneuverability, near silent ride and green initiatives. Zero Motorcycle’s Police Motorcycle has also been integrated into the Los Angeles Police Department to be evaluated as part of their current department motorcycle fleet. The Zero Police Motorcycles allow officers to quickly access areas in ways not applicable prior, are fully equipped with pursuit emergency lighting and sirens, safety components, unique use case features, and plenty of functional storage options to carry gear, patrol items, and emergency medical equipment.

“The Zero DS continues to be a draw for both security and law enforcement departments on a global level with its ability to handle multiple terrains and obstacles. The continued expansion of police and security departments exploring and adding Zero Motorcycles to their fleets is increasing in demand,” said John Lloyd, Vice President of Global Sales for Zero Motorcycles. “Whether the Bogota Police Department in South America or Foothill-De Anza Community College District in Los Altos Hills and Cupertino, law enforcement agencies alike look to Zero for its innovation, functionality, stealthy appeal and overall electric experience. We are excited for the Foothill-De Anza Community College District Police Department to begin utilizing their new bikes for continued successful patrols and campus security.”

Based on Zero’s highly popular 2013 MY Zero DS the current police motorcycles have an approximate range of up to 121 miles on a single charge with top speeds reaching 95 miles per hour. The Zero DS Police Motorcycle was developed specifically for police and security agencies. Since launching its exclusive law enforcement and security motorcycle line-up, Zero has developed electric motorcycle programs for other police agencies like:

• Bogota Police Department
• Hong Kong Police Department
• Monterrey Police Department
• San Jose State University Police Department
• San Mateo Police Department
• Santa Cruz Police Department
• Scotts Valley Police Department
… and many others

“We learned about Zero Motorcycles through the San Jose State University Police Department program and their successful use of Zero’s Police line-up. We simply couldn’t believe the incredible power and the overall performance the Zero DS had to offer,” said Ron Levine, Chief of Police, Foothill-De Anza Community College District. “Our officers can now more efficiently do their job, while also operating without the reliance on fuel, keeping with our College District’s commitment to sustainability.”

Zero Motorcycles offers two distinct models that are tailored to the demands for street and dual sport police motorcycles on a global level with many Asian, European and South American countries taking interest. North America interest continues to expand with local law enforcement agencies, security departments and school campuses utilizing the technology to expand their current fleets. After launching the Zero Police Motorcycles, many law enforcement agencies have now had the model in the field for more than a year and demand continues to rise for the popular motorcycle. Law enforcement agencies have found the motorcycle to be incredibly reliable, maneuverable and economically feasible. Zero continues to work directly with a variety of international law enforcement, security and military agencies.
