Barcia and Canard battled throughout the three-day competition, though thanks to some mistakes on Canard’s part during the first Main Event Barcia found himself with a comfortable gap out front for the win. Things got more heated on the second night as the two jostled for position late in the race. Canard was giving Bam Bam a run for his money late in the contest and went for a pass, but then a move by Barcia caused the two to make contact. Barcia was able to hold steady while Canard lost his line for a moment, giving #51 enough of an advantage to hold for the win.
Canard and Barica hit again on the third day during the elimination race leading up to the main, with Barcia going down and taking Canard to the ground as well. This meant Barcia and Canard lined up with less than ideal gate picks and it was Short who ran out for the early lead. French rider Gautier Paulin of Kawasaki KRT took over from Short soon after. Canard was on a tear though and pushed through the pack to eventually gain the lead. Barcia got up to the front as well and the two Honda riders went at it again with Canard prevailing at the finish.
Paulin ended the weekend in fourth overall followed by Honda HDI’s Cedric Soubeyras in fifth. Star Yamaha’s Cooper Webb, making his first appearance in the event, finished sixth ahead of GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn in seventh.
