The Can-Am Spyder is about to get a shakedown by someone who knows a thing or two about high-performance vehicles. NASCAR driver Danica Patrick will take her first spin on a 2014 Can-Am Spyder at this weekend’s Long Beach International Motorcycle Show (IMS).
Patrick will be trading her 865 hp GoDaddy Chevy SS for a 115 hp Spyder Saturday morning outside the Long Beach Convention Center. Can-Am experts will brief her on the racy three-wheeler before she takes it for a quick ride on a closed concourse before hitting the open road for a short jaunt. Afterwards, she will talk to media about her experience in addition to commenting on her partnership with the brand.
To this point, the extent of Patrick’s relationship with Can-Am on the promotional side is unknown. What we do know is the online seeds were strewn Nov. 27 when @OfficialSpyder tweeted “Hey @DanicaPatrick, racing season is over, time to get off the track and onto the open road? canamspyder.com #firsttime” to which she replied “Sounds like a plan @OfficialSpyder – You’re serious, right?” Two days later, Patrick would confirm that Can-Am was indeed serious, posting “I’ll be off to Long Beach next week for my #firsttime ride on @OfficialSpyder. Check them out http://ow.ly/rikSO ” on her Twitter account.
Can-Am will also be offering demo rides on its repertoire of Spyder models at the Long Beach IMS and will have experts on hand to answer any questions about its unique three-wheeler.
