The Nuviz Ride:HUD system Kickstarter Campaign is nearly complete, with only 60 hours left as of the writing of this article. The campaign is still a little over $10,000 short of its goal, however. If reached, development of the rider display technology (the product of a joint effort between HOLOEYE Systems and APX Labs) will kick into overdrive. The lenses and optical devices necessary for the system will be molded and manufactured and optimization of the electronics package will continue. The support will allow testing and manufacturing to remain on schedule, with the first Ride:HUD systems set for delivery to Kickstarter backers by late Summer 2014.

Motorcycle USA outlined the features of the Ride:HUD system in early December 2013 soon after the Kickstarter campaign started. Essentially, the Nuviz Ride:HUD is an information display device that attaches to the chinbar of any existing full face helmet. It provides a wide variety of information from telemetry, weather, ride data, music and navigation information. It also will be capable of taking photos and video. It’s operated by a Bluetooth-connected controller that can be mounted on the bike. The Ride:HUD device can also be synced with the Ride:CLOUD smartphone app for additional functionality and information.

Nuviz recently upped the benefits of backing at the Ride:HUD level (which is currently $499 dollars). For every pledge of $499 or more, contributors will receive a special Kickstarter edition Nuviz Ride:HUD as well as a headset and microphone. There are additional goodies available for backers that contribute more, including a VIP package (a pledge of $5000 or more) that includes a paid trip for two to San Diego to attend the launch event. Three days and two nights in a hotel and all meals are covered as well.

Head over to the Nuviz Ride:HUD Kickstarter page to check out all the features of this revolutionary technology.
