Byron's sure to be hunched over a laptop after the checkers are flown, caught in his own little version of heaven. Whether on dirt, street or a combination of both, MotoUSA's newest addition knows the only thing better than actually riding is telling the story of how things went down.

250 SX start action at Anaheim II.

Rockstar Energy KTM’s Jason Anderson earned the 250 SX win in Oakland with yet another final lap pass, though this time it wasn’t past Troy Lee Deigns’ Cole Seely. Anderson blew past Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson just before the checkers for the win. Wilson’s teammate, Justin Hill, rounded out the podium.

Wilson was quick off the start, followed by Hill and Anderson. Seely was just outside the top-three and had some trouble finding his rhythm through the opening laps. Seely’s teammate, Malcolm Stewart, had an even worse time during the initial stages when he and Yamaha’s Cooper Webb made contact, sending both riders to the ground. Both were able to recover and finish the race, with Webb clawing back to ninth and Stewart finishing 16th.

Hill was intent on grabbing his first win of the year and moved to the front after the opening laps, with Wilson and Anderson riding close behind. Geico Honda’s Zach Osborne had moved ahead of Seely and was riding steady in fourth-place.

Hill put forward a valiant effort, but Wilson and Anderson both moved past mid race and Hill was unable to recover the front after that. Wilson was riding well, stretching a gap on the field through the final laps and with five laps remaining had moved over four seconds ahead of Anderson. The KTM ace turned on the jets late in the race, though, and was able to trim Wilson’s lead down significantly.

The Kawasaki rider had it in the bag, despite Anderson’s late race push. Then Wilson experienced a brief moment of bike trouble that slowed him enough to allow Anderson to catch and pass just before the finish line. Wilson sorted the issue and crossed the line before Hill could take advantage as well while Seely walks away with fourth.

Anderson leads the way with three wins out of four rounds, and he sits six points ahead of Seely in second. Wilson is third while Osborne trails in fourth.
