BMW Reaches Record Sales In January 2014

BMW Motorrad maintained its record-breaking sales momentum through January 2014, achieving a 12.9% increase for the month over the same period in 2013. The German marque sold 5438 units worldwide, marking the highest unit sales for the month of January in the company’s history.

BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing, Heiner Faust: “After achieving an all-time high in 2013, BMW Motorrad has got off to a very successful start in the new year.

“In view of this wide range of new products and after a successful start to the year, we are confident as we look ahead to the upcoming motorcycle season.”

In the United States sales fell 0.5% for the month, with 591 units sold compared to the 597 sold in January 2013.

BMW is looking for additional gains in the spring when six new models become available. Some, like the R1200RT and K1600GTL Exclusive are upgraded versions of existing models, with the RT a significant redesign of a popular touring model and sourcing BMW’s water-cooled Boxer Twin that debuted on the 2013 R1200GS. Meanwhile the R nineT, S1000R and C evolution electric scooter are all-new to the US market.
