BMW Motorrad achieved an 18.3% sales increase in February 2014 compared to the same period the previous year, delivering 8098 units worldwide. The German marque has sold 13,536 motorcycles and scooters through the first two months of the year, a 16% year-to-date increase.

The water-cooled R1200GS held as the top-selling machine in the line-up worldwide. Others, such as the R1200GS Adventure and R1200RT were released for sale at the beginning of February and contributed to the improved results as well. The R nineT and S1000R are expected to hit showroom floors mid-March while the C evolution electric scooter is scheduled to become available in May.

Heiner Faust, Director of Sales and Marketing at BMW Motorrad commented, “Following the successful start into the new year we have achieved a significant plus of 18.3 % in sales in February. With a total of 8098 vehicles sold, this February is the fourth record-selling February in company history in succession. Worldwide demand was satisfyingly high.

“Expectations for the season are optimistic based on our customers’ positive reactions and due to the successful sales figures of the first two months of the year.”

Sales were strong in the United Sates as well, with 935 units delivered marking an 11% increase over sales in February 2013. Year-to-date figures are also improved, with a total of 1526 units sold, an increase of 6%.
