After retrieving the bikes and equipment from the Port of Felixstowe we made our way to South Wales for some off road training with Dakar legend Simon Pavey who runs the world renowned Off Road Skills.
It is only after attending one of Simon’s Australian schools conducted by Compass Expeditions that two Road of Bones riders, Jane & Leanne, decided to join us in 2014!!
A wonderful day was had by all as we practiced big bike handling skills on Simon’s new BMW R1200GSWs and F800s followed by what Simon claims to be the “Best” pork ribs in the world at the wonderful old “The George” pub.
Mick was kept busy throughout the day fitting out the rider leader BMW R1200 with a host of quality Tourtech parts that not only protect the bike for this arduous expedition but also makes it an eye catching motorbike, our thanks goes to Touratech for their wonderful support of the 2014 Road of Bones Expedition.
Its only 3 days to go before departure yet despite this being my third Road of Bones the excitement is immense and the expedition seems to be overwhelming at times. We hope readers will enjoy the highs and lows of this remarkable ride half way round the world.
