This was the first time the GEICO EnduroCross invaded the Gwinnett Center in Atlanta, GA, and the “Most Exciting Racing on the Planet” did not disappoint. Motorcycle Superstore / Bell Helmets and Factory Beta’s Cody Webb and Factory KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak put on a fantastic show for the crowd with Webb leading 12 of the 15 laps. A small crash in the dreaded woodpit was all Blazusiak needed to double out of the next section and take over the lead. Nobody was disappointed with the race action!

Cody Webb – In his own words…
“This EnduroCross course was like the olden days of the sport. It was a brutal 15-lap main on a tough track. I nearly won the qualifying, but almost went over the bars, whiplashing myself and hurting my shoulder but had to put it behind me. I had a good start to the race and was patient before making a clean pass on Taddy. I pulled a comfortable lead and felt like I had what it took to get the win. Down the final stretch, I got hung up with some lappers and then went down in the woodpit right after that, handing the lead back to Taddy. I passed him back exiting the matrix, but my arms were so pumped I just barely held on.

“Taddy went on the inside of me in the rock corner and took out the leg I was planting to pivot and I went down again. From there it was survival to the finish where I had to hold off (Colton) Haaker for the second spot. Not the final result I wanted after riding so well all day, but my Beta two-stroke was running perfect all day and I felt like I had good speed before making a few mistakes. It’s all part of EnduroCross racing and I need to redeem myself in Denver.”

Webb and Blazusiak are tied for the lead with 94 points each. Colton Haaker is in third with 92.

Motorcycle Superstore’s Ty Tremaine also put in a solid ride finishing 2nd in his heat race and 8th overall in the main event. Bobby Prochnau finished 10th.

In the Women’s class FMF/RPM/KTMs Rachel Gutish was on the podium with a 3rd overall and Chantelle Bykerk finished 5th. Superstore’s Rily Ellinger took 6th and Morgan Tanke finished 7th.
