Yamalube Star Racing’s Jeremy Martin snagged an impressive 250 SX East win in Atlanta, his first victory of the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross season. Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin crossed the line in second followed by GEICO Honda’s Justin Bogle in third.Off the start, Rockstar Husqvarna’s Martin Davalos powered to the front followed closely by Bogle, Smartop’s Vince Friese, Musquin and JAB Motorsports’ Matthew Lemoine. Martin was back in sixth through the first lap, spending the first portion of the race working his way through the crowd to contend for the win.

Davalos was strong during the initial stages, maintaining a gap of more than one second ahead of Bogle until halfway into the race. Musquin trailed the leaders by nearly five seconds on Lap 3 when he moved into third-place, but he cut that gap quickly and was ready to fight for second by Lap 8. Martin held tight to Musquin’s rear tire as well, and by Lap 9 it was a four rider fight for the lead.

Musquin made a slight mistake which upset his rhythm, allowing Martin to move easily past into third. Davalos lost the lead soon after to Bogle and then dropped behind Martin and Musquin a few turns later.

Bogle gassed it hard in an effort to open some space, but Martin was flying and with three laps remaining, the Yamaha rider sailed past easily in the whoops for the front. Martin immediately started to pull away from the field once he took over the lead. Musuqin made his pass on Bogle a lap later, but at this point Martin had a gap of more than two seconds on the field.

Musquin pushed hard to the line, but was unable to close up on Martin. Bogle claimed third, 5.2 seconds behind the leader. Davalos maintained fourth to the finish.

“It was nice to get a win with the new number six,” said Martin. “I could see the lead and never gave up. Fortunately I was able to get around those guys and honestly I learnt a lot tonight from being behind them, how they rode the track and stuff like that. I cannot thank everyone enough.”

Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy took fifth followed by Friese in sixth and Lemoine in seventh. Martin’s teammate, Anthony Rodrigeuz, crossed the line in eighth followed by Bogle’s teammate, RJ Hampshire, in ninth. Monster Pro Circuit’s Arnaud Tonus rounded out the top-10.

Musquin retains the 250 SX East points lead, but has Martin breathing down his neck just four points back in second. Bogle sits third, five points adrift of the leader followed by Savatgy in fourth and Davalos in fifth.
