After a close call at San Diego Supercross and several stirring come from behind performances, Cooper Webb clinched this year’s Monster Energy Supercross 250 West season in Houston this past weekend. By racking up five wins in the first seven races, the ANSR/Star/Yamaha-sponsored Webb claimed the first championship in his young Pro career… and there is only one round to go!

“ANSR could not be more excited to get their first 250 SX championship in quite some time,” says Brand Manager Randy Valade. “Cooper and the whole Star Racing Yamaha team have been a great addition to the ANSR brand this season.” Although he had a dominant season, Webb did add some drama to the 250 Supercross points chase with a scary crash in qualifying for the San Diego round before the break. He shrugged off the pain of a badly bruised shoulder and a bad start to charge from behind at Petco Park opening up a 30 point lead over Jessy Nelson with three rounds left.

“Cooper caught a lucky break and recuperated during the downtime to clinch the championship in Houston,” adds Valade. “We are really looking forward to the rest of the Supercross season and the entire Outdoor Motocross Championship chase.”

Don’t expect the newly crowned champ to rest on his laurels for the last round of the 250 West Supercross season, though. Despite clinching the title, Webb heads into Levi Stadium in Santa Clara this weekend rocking his new #1 plate in hopes of claiming his sixth win of the SX season.
