Jessy Nelson came down hard while testing at Glen Helen taking him out of the remaining 250 Supercross races where he sits at second place in points.
In the rough and tumble world of motocross, you get put in difficult positions sometimes. Unfortunately, the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM race team and Jessy Nelson had to sit down this week and make the tough call that he wouldn’t compete in the remaining 2015 Supercross West Region rounds.
Jessy and the team had been working diligently to prepare for the start of the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in May. Progress was being made and everybody was happy with the way things were going. Then, at a test on the high-speed Glen Helen circuit, Jessy went down hard. Nothing was broken in the crash, but Nelson is still feeling the effects and decided, with the support of the Troy Lee Designs team, that it would be in his best interest to take the extra time to heal 100 percent.
“It’s definitely tough to make that call, especially when you are sitting second in points,” Jessy said of his decision. “I have good people around me and we all think the smart move is to take the time I need and line back up when I’m completely ready. I’m already looking forward to Hangtown.”
Right now, the plan is for Nelson to begin the outdoor season when it kicks off in Sacramento, California. Thanks for supporting Jessy and the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM race team.
Be sure to tune in to FOX Sports 1 this Saturday, April 11, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT to watch Troy Lee Designs riders Shane McElrath and Cole Seely compete at Houston SX.
