RPM KTM support rider Cody Webb and FMF KTM Factory rider Taylor Robert finished second and third respectively at the eighth round of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series held at the Ford Idaho Center.
It was Webb who topped the leaderboard throughout the day earning the fastest hot lap time in the afternoon and later evening hot lap rounds. Webb also took a holeshot in his heat race and went on to win that race and add a point toward his championship points lead.
Robert was placed in the next heat where he earned a decent start and was battling up front. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to pass for the lead, but he did hang on to finish second for a spot in the main event.
In the main event, Webb lined up on the inside gate and got a great jump off the start nearly grabbing the holeshot. He moved his KTM into the lead on the next straight and aired out the large tire jump. Meanwhile, Robert had earned a fifth place start and was beginning to work his way toward the top three. While Webb was busy pulling away out front, Robert suffered a crash early in the race and fell to sixth place. Robert quickly collected himself and was able to charge back toward the top three alongside Colton Haaker who was on the move.
Robert and Haaker climbed quickly through the pack. Soon Haaker was battling Webb for the lead while Robert began a battle with Mike Brown for third. Haaker was able to make the pass on Webb with three laps to go. Webb backed off and held strong for his second place result to salvage crucial points toward the championship. Robert was able to move by Brown and came up on Webb on the final lap but was unable to close the gap and settled for third.
“I rode really well tonight but struggled slightly in the main event,” stated Webb. “I am happy to still hold a 10 point lead in the championship heading to the final round, but there is still a lot that can happen. I’m really excited to get to Ontario for the last race and hope to be on top of the box.”
