FIXT Pro Torque T-Handle Review

MotorcycleUSA Staff | November 6, 2015

The FIXT Pro T-Handle may seem like an ordinary 3/8” driver at first glance, but it is a sleek, precision torque wrench. Constructed from high-grade stainless steel and 6061 anodized aluminum means this made-in-the-USA tool is high quality. The FIXT Pro T-Handle comes in three choices of measurements, 4-20 ft-lbs and 48-240 in-lbs imperial, and 6-27 Nm metric. Measurements are laser-marked on anodized aluminum handles, while the shafts are made from stainless steel. Color options currently include black, blue, gold (orange), red, and green.

FIXT Pro Torque T-Handle

Having a T-Handle driver with a built-in torque scale is awesome and saves a ton of time compared to standard torque wrench. The FIXT Pro T-Handle is always handy and I use it regularly to torque bolts up to 20 foot-pounds. The truth is I now properly torque bolts that before I would have just gone by feel because the FIXT Pro is so quick and easy to use. It encourages better wrenching practices. No presetting of torque is needed with the FIXT Pro T-handle, simply drive a bolt, keep an eye on the torque scale, and release pressure once the desired torque is reached. Warning: Do not loosen bolts with this tool.

FIXT Pro Torque T-Handle

The FIXT hits target torque values with decent accuracy, but there is a little more room for human error when compared to using a standard torque wrench. Unless the bolt or nut has to be drop dead exact, we prefer to use the FIXT Pro T-Handle, which is quite accurate when used consistently and properly. The first version of the T-Handle we tried was a little difficult to line up the arrow to the desired torque marking, but after some talks with the folks at FIXT they came out with this version of the laser-etched torque readings, which are a thousand times easier to read and line up. The contrast of the torque scale markings is excellent, and the contrast of the arrow on the stainless steel portion is easy to see.

The $159.99 price tag may scare away some, but for those enthusiasts who spend a lot of time wrenching on their rides, the FIXT is worth the cost. The FIXT Pro T-Handle is very well built and not only can you see the quality of the tool, you feel it when using it. It comes with a one-year warranty.
